Summer is almost officially here and as seasons change, so should your content plans. If you read our posts frequently, you’ll always hear us say that the key to effective content is to ensure that it is as timely and valuable as possible to your audience.
In education, depending on if you’re a B2B or B2C organization it can be a slow or very busy time for purchasing. If you’re a B2B organization targeting K-12 education districts to purchase your product or service, this is likely a very busy time for you. Summer is in the middle of the purchasing cycle, where districts are actively purchasing tools so they can be ready to use for the beginning of the school year. K12 Prospects has a guide that provides detail of each stage within the district purchasing cycle. On top of this, the federal government has recently granted an unprecedented amount of funds to education ($190 billion!) to promote student health and academic success in K-12 and Higher Education.
If you’re a business directly targeting parents, depending on your product, you may have high peaks as parents use your tool to inject learning into their child’s summer. This means you should be creating content that demonstrates your product’s impact and value during this time. If you target K-12 educators directly, recognize that educators are just now finishing up the most challenging school year of their careers. Appreciate them. Create content that helps teachers celebrate, reflect, and also recharge. June and July are big conference months for many educators and with so many conferences going virtual, even more educators can take advantage of this professional development without ever leaving their homes. That makes summer the perfect time to create content that will help teachers hone their craft. Educators will also use part of the summer to evaluate tech tools and resources they may want to use in the classroom next school year.
If you’re looking for easy ways to make your content timely, birthdays of historical figures or famous people can be a fun option. We created our free EdTech Marketer’s Planner that has a list of some notable birthdays throughout the year. Below, you’ll find a list of some June and July birthdays. This isn’t a comprehensive list by any means. It should merely act as a starting point for you. As a next step, you should dive deeper and add birthdays of folks that your audience cares about most. For some brands, it may make sense to add more musicians, authors, scientists, sports icons, or historical figures.
Still not sure what content to create? We’ve got you. We crafted three simple ways that you can create different types of content inspired by birthdays.
